Mauzy

Services

The main purpose of the Mauzy Foundation is to support and enrich the educational experience of the developmentally disabled children enrolled in the Mauzy system.

M
usic brings a tremendous amount of joy into the lives of many children at Mauzy.  All classes receive music therapy on either a weekly or biweekly basis. The music therapist uses music to enhance social and communication skills, language development, fine motor skills, and most importantly to foster a love of music.

G
rants are rewarded to the teachers and therapists for materials and activities that enhance the classroom environment. These grants range from specialized communication devices to supportive seating for those with physical disabilities to art therapy.

D
onations for additional, non-classroom assistance are provided. We purchased a universally accessible outdoor xylophone for the playground at the Mauzy School, in memory of five students who recently passed away.

Mauzy in Action

During the 2010-2011 academic year, we purchased iPads for six of the classrooms. There are numerous iPad applications that special education students can access, including multiple ones designed specifically for those with communication impairments.
